The Office, The City and the "Harbour"

Ok, I went to the office and met most of the people that I will be working with when I begin my new job here in Sydney. They all seem to be very friendly and anxious to get me here to work with them. I am also excited about the new challenge. The office is a lot smaller in size than the office in Tinton Falls, NJ. but it reminded me of when I worked at Xpedite in Glen Head, NY. back in the early 90's. The office has more of a family type feel to it and I have really missed that now for quite some time. I think that Ilyssa will like it here as well.

After spending a good couple of hours in the office, I took a walk around Sydney CBD to check out the area. Very Manhattan like atmosphere but with less congestion. I liked it. Very clean as well. One thing that I need to remember and will need to make sure Ilyssa also knows is to make sure we are very careful walking across the streets here. I almost got killed today simply walking across the street because I am not used to looking right first, we look to the left first, walk and then look to the right. Big "No, No" here. You first need to look to the right, then walk, then look left.

I also checked out some childcare centers in the city. Some of them looked pretty good, but the prices seem to be pretty high. Ilyssa and I will need to check that out further when we arrive for the assignment.

I have some appointments set up for tomorrow to check out some apartments and houses. Let's hope that goes well.

I had dinner with Grant Shatford tonight. We had a nice dinner and a great conversation about my new position as well as Ilyssa's new role here. He made me feel very comfortable and I really look forward to our work here. It should be a nice change from the norm at home.
